Volunteer Program

Our Volunteer Program has many different opportunities for women and men in our community to become involved at the Centre and give back to their neighbourhood. We also welcome volunteers from other parts of Winnipeg who are interested in working in the West Central neighbourhood. If you’re looking for somewhere fun and meaningful to volunteer the WCWRC could be the perfect place for you!

Volunteers are responsible for operating many of the services at the Centre while also helping with special projects or events. The areas people can volunteer in include:

• Community Cupboard
• Clothing Room
• Reception
• Assisting with advocacy
• Outreach
• Housekeeping
• Odd Jobs
• Planning workshops or events
• Special Projects
• Governing the Centre through our volunteer board

We also create new volunteer positions based on the interest and skills of a volunteer. If you bring your ideas to us we can help create a job for you. Past special positions have included Conflict Resolution advice, costing the Canada Food Guide and organizing a Mother’s Day event.

The WCWRC is indebted to our volunteers and the hours of time they put in each month. We show our appreciation through regular recognition events, draws, trainings and leadership opportunities. We also encourage volunteers to feel a sense of pride and ownership in the Centre and all that they do here.
